Stretch Therapy
Welcome to my Stretch Therapy page, where I focus on the benefits of assisted stretching.
In a world where we spend more time sitting, scrolling, and rushing, our bodies are often tight and become restricted, and out of balance. While stretching at home is helpful and very recommended, assisted stretching takes flexibility, mobility and recovery to a whole new level.
Discover how incorporating stretching into your routine can improve flexibility, prevent injuries, restore natural, pain free movement and enhance overall well-being.

Assisted Stretching
What is Assisted Stretching?
Assisted stretching is a guided form of stretching, either using the PNF method or a slow controlled passive stretch. Cheri will help move your body through stretches that you may not be able to access on your own. Using gentle pressure, support and alignment cues Cheri helps you to safely increase range of motion while keeping your body relaxed.
What is PNF Stretching?
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is a form of assisted stretching. It combines passive stretching with muscle contraction, working with the nervous system rather than against it.
How it works
Stretch therapy encompasses a range of techniques designed to treat issues related to tight muscles and restricted joints. It is beneficial for all individuals of all age and fitness levels focusing on improving range of movement and overall movement efficiency.
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation involves a series of techniques using the body's neuromuscular responses to improve flexibility and strength, the core principle of PNF is to engage the muscle being stretched through contraction which helps to relax the muscle and allow for a deeper stretch.
During a session you stay fully relaxed while gentle pressure is applied to deepen stretches while your limbs and joints are supported. Angles may be adjusted to suit your body, limitations or deepen the stretch and we encourage slow breathing to calm the nervous system until cued - this combination allows muscles to lengthen more fully without strain.
