PNF Stretching

What is PNF Stretching?  Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation is a form of assisted stretching used to improve joint range of motion and physical performance.

How it works

There are 3 main types of PNF stretching – Contract-Relax, Hold-Relax and Contract-Relax-Antagonist-Contract.  Each of the following methods involves some combination of stretches and contractions of the muscle which results in the target muscles relaxing and allowing for a greater stretch to be achieved.
